Bywater Doors

Doors in the Bywater neighborhood, a couple blocks from where I live in New Orleans

As Opposed to Cruel Caffeine

Sunday, May 30th. 12:25pm. Kind Coffee Company. 715 W. Fayette St., Syracuse, NY. I don't drink coffee usually, but my roommates tell me this is some of the best. Very stripped-down place, no tables or bathroom, and the hours are hand-written on the door. There is also a crazy 'Kind Coffee Co.' mural on the side of the building next to the door to catch people's attention, as this place is among abandoned buildings and warehouses. I mostly just enjoy the look of the blue door against the brick.

Baking on a Sunday

Sunday, May 30th. 1:30pm. Columbus Baking Co., 502 Pearl St., Syracuse, NY. One of my favorite places in the city. A bunch of Italian guys in all white baking up a storm in their huge ovens set into the back wall of the shop. No frills, no decorations, just delicious fresh bread. Door is usually open and the guys like to hang out under the tree across the street or on the bench outside the shop (like the one reflected in the door). Feels like a door to simple goodness.

Criminal Courthouse Door

Sunday, May 30th. 1:00pm. 505 S. State St., Syracuse, NY. I work with people who were formerly incarcerated, so many of my clients have made their way through this door.

Doors-Windows-Eyes

I went from doors to windows, and 'eyes are the windows to the soul.'
I'm allowed, poetic license.

A door to the best view

And the view itself.
